Saifur Toshakhana case appeals Hearing IHC
The court has directed both parties to come fully prepared on March 11.

In the Islamabad High Court while procedings in Saifur Toshakhana case appeals the legal team of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has begun presenting evidence against the verdict in the Saifur case. Meanwhile, the court has directed both parties to come fully prepared on March 11.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb of the Islamabad High Court heard Saifur Toshakhana case appeals against the verdict in the PTI founder's Saifur case and the Toshakhana NAB reference.

During the hearing, the new prosecutor of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), retired Justice Hameed Ali Shah, submitted his power of attorney and requested time from the court to prepare the case.

PTI's lawyer, Salman Safdar, opposed granting more time.

The court, while instructing Salman Safdar to start presenting evidence, addressed the prosecutor, saying, "Let Salman Safdar present the evidence. You have only one day to complete the evidence. You have to prepare by tomorrow."

Lawyer Salman Safdar presented his initial evidence in the Saifur case and briefed the court on the background of the case.

He took the stance that there are two aspects to this case: one is the merits of the case, and the other is how the case was handled. I need an additional hour and a half for the next hearing to complete the evidence.

Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb remarked that this is not an ordinary FIR; this is the first case of its kind. Do not take it lightly, and come prepared for the next hearing; we will not leave you so easily.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq remarked, "This is a special law, and you have to assist us."

The court adjourned the hearing on appeals against the sentences in the PTI founder's Saifur case and the Toshakhana reference to March 11.

It should be noted that on January 30 next year, Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi were sentenced to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment in the Saifur case.
